Hiking Highlight
Recommended by Jamie S.
At the end of Charlie's Spring Trail, which is down a beautiful, sandy desert wash between towering hills of red sandstone and through a small canyon, is a desert oasis. Charlie's Spring is an important water source for many desert animals that rely on it year-round to survive. At Charlie's Spring there is a small pond and a palm tree surrounded by plants with birds, insects, and if you're lucky you might see other animals like lizards, foxes, and big horn sheep. The trail to this oasis, however, is long and exposed to the sun, and you really shouldn't drink from the spring, so please plan accordingly and try to only hike this trail in the cooler months and when there is no danger of flash floods.
