Kościuszko Square and St. Nicholas Collegiate Church, Końskie

Arriving in downtown Końskie, you cannot ignore the statue of Tadeusz Kościuszko on his horse. Considered a national hero in Poland, he is also revered in Belarus, Lithuania and the United States. He indeed participated in the American War of Independence and organized the Polish insurrection of 1794 against Russian and Prussian domination, known as the “Kościuszko insurrection”.You are here in the oldest part of the city. Parks, gardens and churches are all around. This city had a large Jewish population. It was completely exterminated between 1939 and 1943. The city is developing today around small businesses.

A place worth seeing, especially the collegiate church.

Interesting old well and monument. A few benches and a fountain. Terrible concrete.
