    The ascent to Lanham Lake is steep but pretty well-shaded, so it's a nice destination on a warm day — especially since the last part of the trail ushers you through old-growth forest.

    The start of this trail is directly opposite the Nordic Center, so it's probably no surprise that snowshoers and skiers head up here during the winter, too, although as always winter travelers should be on the lookout for avalanche hazard.
