The water tower is right next to the main train station and I actually always stop by there. Regardless of whether you choose the route to Froschhausen or Rodgau. I always recommend taking a look at the traffic and the tracks first - before the tower gets my full attention!

Well worth it because it is a very special building .. But the traffic at this point is very extreme ..

        Water Tower (1938) - Seligenstadt 🚴‍♂️

The water tower, along with the Einhard Basilica and the Steinheim Gate Tower, is one of the city's most striking buildings. Built in 1938, it stretches exactly 51.70 meters from its base to the top of its "Pickelhaube" (spiked helmet). Its white paint alone makes the original elevated water tank a visible landmark in the landscape of the eastern district. Behind the massive, almost one-meter-thick wall, a water tank with a volume of 500 cubic meters was installed at the time, which provided the necessary pressure for the drinking water network. The construction cost 71 years ago was 120,000 Reichsmarks. Today, there are half a dozen antenna systems under the dome for fire departments, disaster control agencies, and other emergency services, as well as for mobile network operators. Bird conservationists have also installed nesting boxes for kestrels up there.

The tower is no longer in use as a monument and is still used for occasional visits...
