A rest and refreshment station has been created at the western portal of the former Schwarzkopf Tunnel at a historic site. Water was previously collected from both sides using wells and, during the steam locomotive era, used to fill the water taps there. All of the water was of drinking water quality and was used, among other things, to supply the train stations in Heigenbrücken, Laufach, Hösbach, Goldbach, and Aschaffenburg. This water is still available today. At the refreshment station, visitors can refresh themselves with the spring water from the Schwarzkopf spring using a pump (hydraulic "ram's head"), cool their feet, hands, and legs in water tubs, and relax on a small seating area. The refreshment station was officially opened on October 3, 2020.In 2018, Laufach street artist Max Hasenstab created a graffiti at the tunnel portal depicting a steam locomotive and a man with a speech bubble. The phrase "Hie un zurück Lafisch" (Here and back Lafisch) recalls an anecdote at the ticket counter of Aschaffenburg train station.Source: laufach.de

Beautiful monument that is intended to commemorate the 160-year-old railway history around the Schwarzkopf Tunnel. 😊
