The church was founded in the early Middle Ages, became a parish church in 818, a collegiate church in 1078, and since 1078 it has been a cathedral. The masonry is still Romanesque in today's construction. In the 13.-14. Century she received the vaulted ceiling and was enlarged. The weather facade, which was built in 1500/1517, is one of the masterpieces of the Lombard Renaissance. The frontispiece, four pillars, carry the central cornice in a broken line and a truss - elements arranged in the most harmonious way. The Chapel Madonna delle Grazie is richly decorated with columns and decorated with a marble altar; It was founded in 1494 and reconstructed in 1774 according to projects by the architect Giambattista Casasopra.
