Not far from the famous and visible stone of San Zenobi, this stele marks the border between the municipalities of Firenzuola (Florence) and Monghidoro (Bologna). It is located on the Tre Poggioli, in fact, a ridge with a profile which, seen from a distance, resembles three balconies ("poggioli" in the dialects of central-northern Italy). A monument previous to the current one was inaugurated on 27 August 1939, four days before the outbreak of the Second World War, in the same place where Mussolini held the so-called "tank speech" or the "prelude to the armed nation" five years earlier. The predecessor of the current monument was blown up in 1945 by local partisans.
