Next to the Joachimskreuz (field cross) there is an extraordinary vineyard cottage built in 1998.
Previous models in the same location were temporarily built from straw and sticks and served as wind and weather protection for Wingertsschütz and winemakers, especially in autumn during the grape harvest. Wingertsschütz at the time liked to smoke a lot, so the straw house regularly burst into flames and had to be rebuilt. In the 1980s, the idea arose to build a robust and beautiful Wingertshäuschen to meet the changing needs of winegrowers and farmers. A more massive construction was necessary because shooting devices to ward off starlings had to be stowed away. During one of the traditional vineyard tours of the city of Mainz, in which the mayor visits the wine-growing communities, the topic was taken up and the then mayor Herman-Hartmut Weyel and Jakob Groiß decided to build the Wingertshäuschen more stable and also more attractive for wine tourism. A special eye-catcher is the Mother of God Grotto. The figure was donated by David Ferdinand Mann.
