Portland Bill is the southern tip of the isle of Portland. This spot has been an important signal location since Roman times. There has been a lighthouse here since at least the early 1700s. Today the lighthouse is automated and there is a large obelisk, built in the 19th century as a day mark.

The South West Coast Path runs around the edge and a loop of the island makes for a brilliant run.
