Up until the early 1970s, the old Steigerhaus was located where a pretty bee house now stands. It was built in 1739 and served as the foreman's residence and office building. His job was to oversee the mining going on in the Silberberg tunnels. Among other things, he managed the operational plans and was responsible for compliance with the regulations.
