At almost 115 meters, the Achmea Tower is the tallest building in the north of the Netherlands. The slender tower dominates the skyline of Leeuwarden and looks like a lighthouse visible from afar in the flat Frisian landscape. The building consists of two towers of different heights, which are pushed into each other. At the top of the tower is a semi-public space with panoramic views over the city and country. Unfortunately, the tower is currently not open to visitors.

Architecturally, the building doesn't fit at all with the city, where many historic buildings can be seen.

@Thomas Although the tower is certainly not a special architectural achievement, it is still an identifying mark that you can clearly see from afar, especially when cycling. ....you think that it won't be that far anymore... but that's usually not true 😜 🇳🇱
