The Romanterra bridge is a geological site located in Bagolino, a municipality in the Sabbia valley. The name derives from an ancient stone bridge that still exists today and was built in 1537. The Romanterra bridge offers a view of one of the very few geological sites in the world which has been awarded the Golden Nail: it was chosen in 2005 for the representativeness of the rock outcrops and the precision of the dating of the layers. The marine fossils found in Romanterra are useful in determining the age of the strata.
