The community of Westerdeichstrich, first mentioned in documents in 1824, is located directly on the North Sea. The "Margaretha" mill dominates the townscape. On April 1, 1934, the parish rural community of Büsum was dissolved. All of its villages, village communities and farming communities became independent communities/rural communities, including Westerdeichstrich.
