Stettenfels Castle sits on a spur above Untergruppenbach at the end of a large plateau. The beautiful complex has been changed several times over the centuries and shows numerous traces of the Renaissance in addition to medieval elements.

Stettenfels Castle was originally built as a noble residence and to monitor the highway and salt route from Hall to Lauffen. It has been continuously expanded and developed through numerous changes of ownership. Today you will find a four-winged Renaissance castle surrounded by a mighty moat.

Access to Stettenfels Castle is from the ridge of the mountain, as it was then. A former outer bailey was replaced over time by a castle garden, which now houses a restaurant with a beer garden, parking spaces and other commercial and agricultural uses.
