The Sint-Kwintenskerk with its sturdy, flat tower is the landmark of Oostkerke. Around the year 1100 there was already a Romanesque church here. In 1159, the remains of Saint Guthago were placed here in a reliquary by the bishop of Tournai, after miracles had taken place at his tomb. Saint Guthago was a king's son who chose to live as a pilgrim in Flanders. He was buried in Oostkerke
