Dolgelin Church was built around 1300. The field stone building was probably created under the influence of the Templars and later the Hospitallers. The building is a single-nave sacred building with a retracted choir. Later, in the 16th century, the church was extended with a sacristy. The first tower was erected around the middle of the 19th century, but it collapsed again. In 1870 a new red brick tower was built, which stood until 1965.
During the Second World War, the Dolgelin church was only slightly damaged, although the site itself was 90% destroyed. The tower had two major bullet holes that were certainly repairable. From 1945 to 1946 services in the form of confirmations and a wedding took place in the church. Unfortunately, the building was then approved as a building material donor by the then mayor. A large part of the roof tiles for the adjacent school were re-covered and the decay took its course. Only on March 25, 1965 was the tower blown up on government orders. More than 20 years later, work began to clear the mountain of rubble. Only the four foundation walls remained.
In 2002, a support association was founded with the aim of gradually rebuilding and maintaining the church. The first step, the renovation of the west gable, took place in 2013. The new roof truss and roof were built in 2018/19.
