The Großostheimer "Unterwald" was expanded around 1520 after the demise of the settlement "Ringenheim", which was close to the "Ringheimer Mühle". Hidden between the dunes, between the Babenhäuser Weg and the "Mittelweg", there is an old well that only a few people knew existed. Since the Roman "High Road" from Dieburg to Stockstadt passed not far to the north, there was hope of finding a Roman fountain.
