Nehalennia is only known from large quantities of altars found at Colijnsplaat and Domburg in what is now Zeeland. The votive stones originate from two stone temples that were located on the Oosterschelde. This was then the main mouth of the Scheldt and formed the border between the civitates of the Menapii and Frisiavones. This region was at that time an important link in the Roman trade between the Rhine region and Britannia. The worshippers of Nehalennia came from a large area that included Gallia Belgica, Germania Inferior, Germania Superior and Britannia.
