Kasteel Oost is a castle-like country house in a bend of the Geul river, east of Valkenburg aan de Geul. The castle, which is surrounded by a formal garden and a landscape garden, is now a national monument. Kasteel Oost belonged to the Drossaard of the Land van Valkenburg in 1587. The west wing and the connecting part have been preserved. Nowadays the castle is used as a wedding hall, conference hall and party and congress centre.

This ochre-yellow castle near the Geul is a pearl in the green landscape. It is built in neoclassical style and the symmetry makes it a stately whole.

On the side of the Geul, the U-shaped building has a beautiful courtyard, the Court of Honour, whose entrance gates are flanked by columns with stone lions. On the other side of the building are freely accessible gardens in the Baroque style.

The history of this castle goes back to the second half of the 16th century, but the current appearance (and probably also the striking color) dates from 1836.
