Locally called “Okop”, the Gord is situated on a small promontory rising at the top of the Biebrza Valley, near the place where this river joins the Narew.
This place has excellent defense and observation values. It is located in the village of Sambory, but close to the village of Ruś, hence the commonly used dual designation "Ruś-Sambory".
