The name "Weschnitz" is traced back to Visucius, the name of a Celtic river god.The Weschnitz rises in the community Grasellenbach in the Odenwald and flows after almost 59 km near the NPP Biblis in the Rhine.

From the mouth to Wattenheim great bike path, either on perfect asphalt on the outside of the dike or on a well drivable split on the top of the dike. At the top you can see more landscape, very pretty sections of nature.

Shortly before the mouth, the wild Weschnitz becomes a bordered canal. The bike paths are very nicely laid out.

The Weschnitz is a 58.9 kilometer long right tributary of the Rhine in the south of Hesse and north of Baden-Württemberg. It's fun to cycle here

The name "Weschnitz" is traced back to Visucius, the name of a Celtic river god. More details are explained at the Walpurgis chapel in Fürth. This chapel stands at a former place of worship for the Celts, and ore was mined nearby at the time. Large stone crosses in the Odenwald are often a reference to a pagan site, because many a menhir was carved into a cross after Christianization. The Weschnitz is referred to as Wiscoz, Wisgots[4] or similar spellings in numerous documents of the Lorsch Codex as a reference for the location of the Lorsch Monastery. This name also appears in other Latin publications
