The Havekes Mölle was built in 1898 on behalf of the Havekes family. There was a standard mill on the site of the current mill as early as the mid-14th century, which has always been closely linked to the Duistervoorde estate.

On August 17, 1830, Jan Havekes bought this standard mill for 11,020 guilders from the then owner of the Duistervoorde estate, wine merchant Johan Carl Goldenberg from Deventer. Jan Havekes' father, Lucas, had once been a tenant of the Duistervoorde mill. The heirs of Antoni Havekes decided in 1896 to demolish the mill due to dilapidation and to build the current mill on the same site. Parts of the old mill were reused in the new mill.

In 1898 the construction of the current mill was completed and it was put into use. In 1919 the mill was sold to miller Antonius Franciscus Fakkert, as a result of which the mill in Twello and Duistervoorde was called 'the mill of Fakkert'. Industrialization did not ignore this mill and the mill, like many other mills, came to a standstill and fell into disrepair. However, in 1975 the mill was able to operate again after a restoration, but the mill stood still again in 1982 and the 'mölle van Fakkert' was eventually sold. In 1982, the standstill finally came to an end and the 'Stichting Behoud Havekes Mölle' was founded. Thanks to the help of many enthusiastic volunteers, the mill could be repaired and made ready for grinding.
