This Bronze Age tumulus was trenched by R Close in 1956. The inner and outer of the three courses of kerb stones are on edge. To the SW of the centre of the tumulus a cist, 4ft 6ins, was found on a 3ft deep clay floor. Other finds included cremation remnants, bone fragments and broken shards of a possible urn. A boundary stone occupies the summit.

Burton Howe is a Bronze Age burial mound on Ingleby Moor. Good plan to rest (and stretch on the ground!) your wearying legs, and the views from here on a clear day are absolutely superb!
