The station itself was opened in 1901 and the Dorfwirt sold the tickets in the inn. 1960 was then over until it was started again for the first time in 2009 through the initiative of the citizens of Sondernach. In 2011 the station was restored and presented in its current form. All of this was self-propelled by the citizens of Sondernach, who incidentally drove almost completely to Überlingen on Lake Constance when a special train stopped for the first time in 2009 (96 of the approximately 100 residents).
