The white tower at the southern tip of Falster shines from afar. It is located very close to the bird ringing station.

Built in 1801, the lighthouse is made of brick. The rotating lens is a 500-watt bulb, with a magnification of 10 times. Visible from 48 km away on a clear night. The lighthouse can only be viewed from the outside. Visit Lolland-Falster.

Gedser Lighthouse is Denmark's southernmost lighthouse.

Even before the town of Gedser was thought of, the Gedser lighthouse was built. Gedser Reef has always been dangerous to navigation and hence marking was required from an early date. The lighthouse was completed in 1801 but not commissioned until 1802 and is now one of around 50 manned Danish lighthouses.

The first lighthouse was lit by charcoal lit in a clay pot. The light could be seen 10 kilometers away - behind the Gedser Reef lighthouse, which was pulled down in 1976. It was forbidden to sail across the dangerous reef between the lighthouse and the lighthouse without a pilot. The charcoal stove was replaced by 12 wick lamps in 1846. In 1896 the wick lamps had to be replaced with petroleum gas, which was used until 1943 when the kiln was powered by electricity. Today the light from the Gedser lighthouse can be seen 48 km away.
