The Rainbow Trailhead is one of two trailheads along the Turnagain Arm Trail that have no parking fee. The trail west of here starts out as an old road, then narrows a bit and goes through sporadic patches of mud and brush — but it's still very much runnable.

Heading east from here toward the other no-fee trailhead (Windy Corner) expect much more rocky conditions. Some runners will be comfortable keeping up the pace, while others might feel the need to slow down to keep from turning an ankle. As they say, your mileage may vary.
