Above Casaccia, there are the ruins of this church which, around the year 840, was mentioned as the property of a nearby Benedictine convent. Dedicated to San Gaudenzio (327-418), born in Ivrea and converted to Vercelli, he would have Christianized these areas. According to local legend he suffered martyrdom in Casaccia: beheaded Gaudenzio, however, would have taken his head in his hands and continued his journey.

With an impressive total length of 26 meters, this church ruin north-east above Casaccia is one of the largest late Gothic buildings in Graubünden. Although it has a long, sometimes harsh history, the walls of this church are still quite well preserved.

Ruins of the church dedicated to San Gaudenzio. It seems that it was he who Christianized these areas. However, it is not clear whether Gaudenzio died here or in Novara.
