Very nice building that was not demolished, but was preserved.

It was not until 1867, with the opening of the railway line between Bremen and Oldenburg, that the railway age began in the Oldenburg region; elsewhere, such as in Saxony or the Rhineland, it had begun thirty years earlier. For the Oldenburg region, the railway network was operated by the "Grand Ducal Oldenburg Railway".
The city of Varel was already connected to the railway network in 1867, since the city was on the main route from Wilhelmshaven (then: Heppens) to Oldenburg. In the years that followed, voices grew louder calling for the Frisian Wehde west of Varel to be connected. The reason for this was, among other things, the textile and clinker industry.
In 1896, the railway line between Neuenburg and Zetel was put into operation, completing the network of Varel branch lines.
In 1954 the line was closed.
The formerly magnificent train station was supposed to be demolished in the 1980s. However, in 1982 a buyer was found who renovated the building and turned it into a "communication center" for artists. There was also a restaurant in the old station for a time. When this era came to an end, the station was rented out as a doctor's office.
