The three-foot bridge was originally laid out on 78 stone slabs in order to create a direct, short connection through the stream valley between Limbach and Scheringen. The historic section of the route not only passes the Elz over a stone bridge. Three footbridges built with large sandstone also cross three old water channels - man-made watercourses that were once used to water meadows and as a mill race.
