Palas de Rei is an important town in the province of Lugo, crossed by the French Camino de Santiago. It is the end of the stage for many pilgrims, where they find numerous services. The name “Palas de Rei” derives from “Palatium Regis”, which means “Palace of the King”, suggesting its historical relevance. Although it has not preserved much of its Jacobean past, it currently has several pilgrim hostels and other accommodations for those who travel the Camino. The distance from Palas de Rei to Santiago de Compostela is approximately 68 km.
