The name “Palas de Rei” derives from “Palatium Regis”, which means “Palace of the King”, suggesting its historical relevance. Although it has not preserved much of its Jacobean past, it currently has several pilgrim hostels and other accommodations for those who travel the Camino. The distance from Palas de Rei to Santiago de Compostela is approximately 68 km.
