The ravine is lush and moist with few equivalents in the county. Along the river and under the shade of the trees, many interesting plants spread out. You can follow a marked loop that runs along the northern part of the gorge. The circular loop takes you to Lake Misteln, where there is a small barbecue area.
The ravine is one of the county's most interesting plant locations. Everywhere in the Nytorps Ravine you can see grove plants sprouting from the thicket. Here you can find spring pea, lungwort, yellow sedge, two leaves and teabast. Large populations of ostrich ferns can be found along the circular loop. The abundance of flowers is greatest in spring, but the reserve is also worth visiting later in the season. Thanks to the marked circular loop, you can easily make your way along the gorge and experience its lush greenery.
The Nytorps Ravine begins in the west at Lake Älvsjön and meanders eastward into Lake Misteln. In the far north, there is a roughly 100-year-old spruce forest with a very special flora, including gorse, northern sedge, spring wheat and ostrich bracken. Otherwise, it is mainly deciduous trees such as alder, birch and aspen that grow around the stream. On some of the old trees along the stream there is a rich and rare lichen flora with, among other things, reddish-brown pale spike and lung lichen.
Here and there trees have fallen or stand dead as tall stumps. The dead trees must remain because dead wood is important for many of the forest's animals and plants. The trees decay and over time provide nourishment for new plants that sprout in the forest.
