In the middle of the 13th century and 1395 a parish was mentioned. The church was initially a Romanesque church with a west tower and was rebuilt from 1497 to 1523 into a late Gothic hall church. In 1544 the parish was unoccupied. In 1627 the church became a subsidiary church of St. Martin. In 1784 the church was again raised to the status of a parish church. In 1894/1895, under the direction of master builder Ignaz Knapp, a neo-Gothic extension and the addition of a choir took place.
