The Or Torah Synagogue (Tunisian) is covered in mosaics. You can find them on every floor, wall, ceiling and step. The builder Zion Badasche (since 1955) has made it his life's work. Thus, over the decades, hundreds of millions of tesserae have been used to depict dozens of birds, animals, classical syngogue motifs, as well as modern Israeli and Jewish history.
The mosaics were made in Kibbutz Ayalon using stones from Israeli deposits.
