I crossed the river near the house and turned left along the river into the valley.
Please don't do that. After a 5km descent, a section of the path is missing, and you have to climb very steeply up the mountain and slide down the other side on your backside with your bike. A bit dangerous. Unfortunately, the sign indicating that this is a dead end is only halfway down. Since I didn't want to go back up, the detour was a bit adventurous and dangerous.
