The castle, the exact date of which is not known, was the seat of the Lords of Urff. Since Niederurff's fortified church is documented as early as 1085, the oldest parts of the castle may date from the 11th and 12th centuries. The main building (palas), the "Lange Bau", dates from around 1500. In the entrance area in front of the actual castle complex is the manor house from 1739, which is still used as a residential building today. It has been in the family for centuries and it is asked to to take privacy into account.
