Lake Backenberg (also Backenbergsee, Kratersee Güntersen, Kratersee in Backenberg) was created by basalt mining. The 385 m high Backenberg near Güntersen is a volcano extinct about 14 million years ago. The basalt has been mined as a much sought after raw material between 1927 and 1972. The lake has filled the basalt pit created during mining. Baden is possible. (Source: Wikipedia)

From the west, difficult to reach, but the beautiful lake is a great compensation.

Not a racing bike highlight, as it can only be reached via gravel roads and paths.
