A pair of ospreys have been breeding in the Glaslyn Valley since 2004. The RSPB operated the first observation center at Pont Croesor from 2005 until a group of local nature lovers took over management of the project in 2013.
Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife (BGGW) was established as a not-for-profit company to continue the work of protecting the valley's ospreys and highlight the wealth of other wildlife in the area.
