Located at the base of Homestake Peak in the San Isabel National Forest, Slide Lake is a treeline body of water. The trail reaching the lake passes the Tenth Mountain Division Ski Hut just before getting to the lake. Some adventurers use the lake or hut as a home base and scramble off-trail up to the top of Homestake (13,209 feet).

The trail up to the lake is really runnable (even drivable with the right machine), but then venturing around the lake can be a bit of a wet romp.
