Burgau Forest Nature Trail

The forest around Burgau Castle, with its almost flat network of hiking trails, is an ideal destination for the whole family. The main hiking trails are also suitable for prams and for people using a wheelchair or walker. Numerous benches invite you to take a breather. If you are looking for a shady spot in high summer when it is very hot, this is the place for you!Burgau Castle, whose origins date back to the 14th century, was purchased in 1917 along with the surrounding forest by the city of Düren with the support of the Benno Schoeller Foundation. After it was destroyed in World War II, the romantic moated castle was rebuilt with the help of the citizens' campaign "Save Burgau".
