The cycle path away from the busy Dresdner Straße in Freital takes you along a winding path through quiet side streets near the Weißeritz, as here over the car-free arched bridge on Bürgerstraße past some highlights.

Unfortunately, the D4 Mittelland route (East Saxony) is not a cycle path throughout. The well-signposted route partly leads along footpaths and cycle paths in the opposite direction to one-way streets, right-hand traffic must almost always be observed, and larger roads (Burgker Straße, Leßkestraße, Poisentalstraße) must also be crossed without safety measures. Returning to Dresdner Straße in the Turnerstraße area with a left turn (towards Tharandt) onto Deubener Straße poses a particular risk. Tip: Cyclists heading towards Tharandt should PUSH the almost 100 m on the left-hand side footpath on Dresdner Straße.
A major safety advantage would be a connection between the cycle path along the Weißeritz and Deubener Straße.
