This farm complex used as a cultural and meeting place with its historic timber-framed buildings surrounded by mighty trees is located in the center of Scheeßel. The far-flung Niederdeutsche Hallenhaus serves Scheeßel associations for use within the framework of the existing usage regulations.

Interesting and instructive is the visit of the six ancillary buildings of the Meyerhof used by the Heimatverein Scheeßel museum. There is the former farmhouse, today equipped as a weaving mill for courses with historical equipment. For weaving on the peasant loom, a term well known beyond the borders of our region, the courses are pre-occupied for years.

In the former Hofschafstall, already used as a craft house for exhibitions in 1908, since 1976 under the supervision of the Heimatverein, works by artists from Germany and abroad have been exhibited from late April to December. A special crowd puller is the artisan market held annually on the last weekend before the advent season starts.

The visit to the former granary, which houses a blueprint printing press, is also fascinating. One speaks of "witches and blue dyeing", because here, according to traditional methods, fabrics are printed with cardboard and dyed with indigo. This once also based in Scheeßel craft is maintained and handed down by the blue print team of the home club.

I read Heiko's remarks with interest. My appreciation for so much insider knowledge.
I think it's great that these old buildings and working techniques are being preserved for posterity.
