The Aeschi church is one of the so-called "Twelve Thunerseekirchen" which, according to a legend recorded in the 15th century, were built on behalf of King Rudolf II. Hochburgund, 922-926 King of Lombardy. More or less serious architectural interventions took place at the turn of the 13th and 14th and especially in the 16th century. Today's interior is characterized by two major renovations from 1935/36 and 1966.
