Lake Careser is an artificial basin located in the municipality of Peio at 2,603 m a.s.l. It was built in 1931 in order to exploit the waters coming from the Careser glacier for hydroelectric purposes.

Hiking

Challenging route (especially the climb to Rifugio Cevedale Guido), but with breathtaking views. It passes over the crest of a dam, which is open to the public only during certain periods of the year. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of the opening hours. So, be careful: if you find it closed, turn back to the small bridge and from there follow the signs indicating that you can still continue by taking the path that goes around Lago del Cevedale. This will lengthen the route by about 2 km.
