If you want to get to the Hollywood Sign, you should park at Lake Hollywood and walk around. This way you can really make the impressive view work. Highly Recommended!

This iconic landmark shines down on the city from high in the Hollywood Hills.
Among the city's numerous icons, this giant lettering is literally one of the largest. It was originally built in 1923 to advertise a housing project called Hollywoodland. In 1949, the huge information sign lost its last four letters, and in 1978 - on the initiative of Playboy boss Hugh Hefner - it was completely renovated, so that today it shines again like a beacon for all those who dream of a career in film.

You can get a good view of the sign from the Mulholland Highway, which winds through the Hollywood Hills, but also from Griffith Observatory and Lake Hollywood Park. From the city you can see the sign from the Hollywood and Highland Center. For a more original perspective, take the West Trail in Griffith Park or take a guided horseback ride from Sunset Ranch, located at the end of Beachwood Drive. Guided tours include one- or two-hour horseback rides through Griffith Park, evening tours with dinner, and even overnight stays. All tours offer great photo opportunities of the famous lettering and other L.A. landscapes that stretch to the Pacific Ocean.
