The Port Gate (former Berliner Tor - Berlin Gate) was built in the years 1725-1727 according to the design of the Dutch fortification designer Gerhard Cornelius van Wallrave. It has a baroque style. It is a remnant of the old Prussian fortifications. The outer wall of the gate was decorated by the French sculptor Bartholomé Damart. There is a shield with the monogram of King Frederick William I, who donated this object to the city. In the attic there is a plaque with a gilded inscription in Latin, which informs about the rights of the Brandenburg state to Pomerania and Szczecin, after Frederick William bought Szczecin from the Swedes in 1719 for two million thalers.

      which means:

Frederick William, King of Prussia, purchased the Duchy of Szczecin, which was handed over to the Electors of Brandenburg and given in fief to the Dukes of Pomerania, and which later fell under the rule of Sweden. By a fair deal and for a fair price, he acquired them as far as Peene and reincorporated them into his realm. In 1719 he had this Brandenburg Gate built.
