The senseless demolition of the bridge in 1944 ends a proud chapter of European railways.
The Boxteler Bahn, a unique east-west connection between Saint Petersburg and Vlissingen / London was at the beginning of the 20th century, probably the most technically perfect train connection - probably because crowned heads were active users of this railway line.
