Constructed in the late 11th century by William the Conqueror, Lincoln Castle is a scheduled ancient monument with a rich history. The castle is one of only two of its kind in the UK to have two mottes. It functioned as a prison and court until the 20th century.

Today, the castle has been made into a museum where you can see Lincoln's copy of the Magna Carta, one of only four surviving copies. The castle is open from 10am - 5pm. For more info: lincolncastle.com

Lincoln Castle has dominated the city’s skyline for nearly 1,000 years. The mighty structure was built by William the Conqueror in 1068 on a Roman site. Within the castle walls there is a Victorian prison and you can view one of only four original copies of the Magna Carta, which dates to 1215. A walk around the castle walls is an unforgettable experience.
