The current owner had the Schouwenburg estate thoroughly restored in 2010. Over the years, the 18th-century building had been very neglected. This was certainly not the case in the past, because in 1867 it was bought by Baron van Sytzema. It remained owned by this family until 1975. In her younger years, Miss Jacoba Catharina van Sytzama was a lady-in-waiting to Princess Juliana for some time. That led to a lasting friendship. That is why Queen Juliana regularly came to stay at Schouwenburg. The majesty then recreated in the 'ladies' garden', to the left of the outside. (Source: clog paths app)
