The hill is an old longitudinal dune, created in the last ice age. Before the entire nature reserve came into the ownership of the Goois Nature Reserve, part of this nature reserve was a military training area, with a shooting range. In the distance you can see the Broadcasting Tower of Hilversum, 196 meters high.
