Torkel, Werth, Mauren
By 1437, Wolfhart V. von Brandis had acquired the Werdenberger property, making the barons of Brandis and the following families of Sulz, Hohenems and Liechtenstein the largest landlords in Mauren. The Schellenberger Urbar from 1698 lists a good dozen sovereign farms in Mauren, including the Häuslershof, the Mühlehof (first mentioned in 1436), the two Hohlenhofs, the Hässninhof and the Birrishof, one in Freiadarf and two in Popers, as well as the Mühle in Schaanwald (1483), several fields and meadows, two vineyards and a Torkel. Around 1700, the Liechtenstein princely house bought the Weinzierlhof and the Rennhof from Feldkirch citizens. The owners of all these goods had to pay Schupf interest or inheritance interest as part of the pension manorial system.
